Week 4 | Tuesday - Your Legacy
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
DEUTERONOMY 7:9, NIV
What do you think of when you think about leaving a legacy? Some may think of leaving a great business or organization. Some may think of leaving wealth and possessions. Others may think of the family they leave behind or even the way people talk about their character. But in all of these examples, one thing is consistent. A legacy has to do with what you leave behind. It’s how people will remember you one day.
This raises an important question: What will your legacy be? You can live for selfish goals or momentary pleasures, or you can decide to leave a spiritual legacy for future generations.
According to Deuteronomy 7:9, your legacy is tied to your relationship with God. Think about that. The legacy you leave for your children and grandchildren flows out of your love for God and your obedience to Him. That’s why this Beyond journey is so important. It’s a practical way to get closer to God’s heart and step out in obedience. When you understand and embrace God’s vision for your life, you can leave a legacy of righteousness for those who follow you.
