Week 3 | Wednesday – Giving Up Your Lunch
Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?
JOHN 6:9, NIV
For God to perform the miracle, there was a boy who had to give up his lunch. Think about it. He was the only person in the crowd who didn’t need a miracle. He had his lunch. It was everyone else who was hungry!
That’s the real challenge. You may be like the boy. You may be comfortable and already have what you need. But God asks you to give it up so He can use it to bless others. It takes a shift in your perspective. You begin to see that you are blessed in order to be a blessing.
But then there’s a second challenge. Not only did the boy have to give up his lunch, but his lunch was so insignificant when compared to the size of the crowd. How could his sacrifice even matter? In the natural, it makes no sense. But Jesus took what little was given and turned it into an abundance. He is the God of “more than enough.” It’s the same for us. We give in faith because God asks for it, not because it makes sense. It doesn’t matter how much you have. God is not looking at the size of your bank account. He’s looking at your faith and obedience. And in His hands, He can turn our gifts into an abundance.
WHAT IS GOD SAYING TO ME?
HOW CAN I APPLY IT?
TALK TO GOD ABOUT IT.
