Week 3 | Tuesday – How A Miracle Works
But He answered, “You give them something to eat.”
MARK 6:37, NIV
There are three ingredients to every miracle in the Bible. First, there is a need. Jesus had been teaching all day and it was getting late. The people were getting hungry and needed to eat. At this time in history, especially in this part of the world, starvation was a real and present threat. Missing a meal was a big deal, and the need was real.
Second, the need is sensed by a group of people. The disciples did something right—they brought the need to Jesus! But what’s amazing is that Jesus not only had a solution, but He invited them to take part in the miracle. It’s the same for us today. We can’t simply ask God to do miracles without our participation. As any good father, God wants us to grow as much as He wants to solve our problems. So what He chooses to do time and again is invite us to be part of the process.
Finally, a group of people step out in faith regardless of the odds. Jesus’ disciples found the boy with the loaves and fish. His disciples sat everyone down to eat. His disciples even picked up the leftover food when everyone was done. They played a part in this miracle. It’s the same today. When there is a need, sensed by a group of people, who step out in faith, regardless of the odds, God does miracles.
